Salvatore Mancuso condannato a 40 anni di carcere
Finisce la telenovela di Salvatore Mancuso. Per chi non lo sapesse o ricordasse, Salvatore Mancuso è il capo delle unità paramilitari di destra, Autodefensas unidas de Colmbia (Auc), vicine all’attuale governo colombiano, considerate dalle Nazioni Unite tra i principali responsabili delle violazioni dei diritti umani nel paese sudamericano.
Mancuso è nato 44 anni fa a Montera, nel nord della Colombia, da padre italiano originario di Sapri.
Nel maggio del 2005 viene coinvolto nell'operazione Decollo che porta all'arresto di 159 persone, tra cui Natale Scali (Gioiosa Jonica) e Santo Scipione (San Luca). Tramite l'AUC Mancuso avrebbe fatto arrivare al porto di Gioia Tauro 8 tonnellate di cocaina. Perciò è ricercato dalla procura di Catanzaro nell’ambito dell’inchiesta seguita all’operazione Decollo.
Dall'agosto 2006 si trova agli arresti domiciliari, in attesa di deporre di fronte alla “Commissione per la Riconciliazione”. Dall’ "Operazione Tiburon" del novembre 2006, condotta dalla Procura distrettuale antimafia di Reggio Calabria, è emerso che ha rifornito le piazze italiane gestite dalla 'ndrangheta, grazie alla quale il circuito si è allargato anche a mafia siciliana e camorra napoletana. Ma i calabresi sono gli interlocutori privilegiati dal narcotraffico colombiano, per la maggiore affidabilità nel rispetto degli accordi e il minor numero di pentiti.
Grazie ad un escamotage, però, riesce ancora a farla franca. La ley de justicia y paz è una legge creata ad hoc dal governo colombiano di Uribe per risolvere i gravi imbarazzi causati dai massacri del paramilitarismo violento e dalla politica sempre più corrotta. Questa legge, attiva dal 2005, prevede un processo di smobilitazione limitato ad alcuni gruppi armati, da cui sono state escluse le guerriglie di sinistra mentre hanno trovato spazio tutti i gruppi paramilitari, dalle AUC alle aquile nere. Con questa si è aperta ai paras la possibilità di consegnare le armi a dei funzionari statali, ottenendo in cambio una fedina penale pulita ed un impiego statale (perdipiù nei settori della sicurezza, polizia o esercito). Ovvio ribadire che questo capolavoro di ingiustizia è stato denunciato da tutti gli organismi internazionali, tra cui l’Onu, e da tutte le associazioni per i diritti umani.
Così nell'estate del 2007 Mancuso, seguendo le direttive della incredibile legge, ammettendo i suoi crimini alla corte colombiana evita la sua estradizione negli Stati Uniti per traffico di droga.
Lo scorso maggio, tuttavia, 14 capi paramilitari colombiani, tra cui Salvatore Mancuso, sono stati finalmente estradati negli Stati Uniti per essere giudicati. Decida chi legge sulla sincerità del presidente Uribe: da una parte la versione ufficiale, accusa di narcotraffico in quanto i 14 avrebbero continuato le attività illecite; dall'altra il fatto che la decisione arriva in un momento critico per il presidente colombiano, date le indagini sulle commistioni tra paramilitari e politica.
Ed infine, dopo l'estradizione in USA, arriva finalmente la condanna. Con l’accusa di omicidio aggravato, associazione a delinquere, e furto aggravato e di primo grado, Mancuso Gómez è stato condannato a 40 anni di carcere. Inoltre, la Seconda Sezione Penale del circuito Speciale di Antioquia l’ha anche condannato ad una multa di 3000 salari minimi mensili legali vigenti e al pagamento di 50 salari minimi mensili vigenti agli eredi di ciascuna delle vittime.
